MotionCalm ("the app", "we", "us") is a motion sickness relief application for Android. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding that information.

1. Information We Collect

Sensor Data

MotionCalm reads data from your device's accelerometer and gyroscope sensors in real time to display motion dots on screen. This data is processed entirely on your device and is never transmitted to any server or stored beyond the current session.

Activity Recognition

If you enable the "Auto-start in vehicle" feature, the app uses Google's Activity Recognition API to detect when you are in a moving vehicle. This data is used only to start the motion dot overlay automatically and is not stored or shared.

App Preferences

Your settings (dot size, color, sensitivity, night mode, etc.) are stored locally on your device using Android's DataStore. This data never leaves your device.

Purchase Information

In-app purchases (Remove Ads, Monthly Subscription, Lifetime) are processed entirely by Google Play Billing. We do not collect, store, or have access to your payment information. Purchase verification is handled by Google Play.

2. Information We Do Not Collect

We do not collect your name, email address, or any personally identifiable information
We do not collect location data (GPS)
We do not collect device identifiers or advertising IDs
We do not track usage analytics or crash reports (beyond what Google Play provides to all developers)
We do not use third-party analytics SDKs inside the app

3. Permissions Used

BODY_SENSORS / HIGH_SAMPLING_RATE_SENSORS — to read accelerometer and gyroscope data for the motion dot overlay
ACTIVITY_RECOGNITION — for optional vehicle auto-start detection
SYSTEM_ALERT_WINDOW — to display the motion dot overlay on top of other apps
FOREGROUND_SERVICE — to keep the overlay running while you use other apps
POST_NOTIFICATIONS — to show the persistent foreground service notification (required by Android)
REQUEST_IGNORE_BATTERY_OPTIMIZATIONS — to prevent Android from stopping the background service
RECEIVE_BOOT_COMPLETED — to restart the service automatically after device reboot if it was previously running

None of these permissions are used to collect or transmit personal data.

4. Data Sharing

We do not sell, trade, or share your personal data with any third parties. The only external service involved is Google Play Billing for processing in-app purchases, which is governed by Google's Privacy Policy.

5. Data Retention

All app preferences are stored locally on your device. You can delete all app data at any time by going to Settings → Apps → MotionCalm → Clear Data on your Android device. Uninstalling the app removes all locally stored data.

6. Children's Privacy

MotionCalm is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect any information from children. The app does not contain content inappropriate for any age group.

7. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected on this page with an updated date at the top. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
